Novak Construction Breaks Ground on new Portillo's in Normal

NORMAL, IL The former old Motel 6 off of Veterans Parkway, will soon be re-developed and feature a 9,000-square-foot Portillo's Restaurant. Portillo's and Novak Construction led a well-attended ceremony for Portillo's newest location. Portillo's CEO, Keith Kinsey, addressed those gathered and calls Normal the perfect location for the Chicago, Illinois, based restaurant. Also joining Kinsey was Sam Herston (Director of Rest. Development), Walter Sydor (Portillo's In-House Architect), Sherri Abruscato (Portillo's COO), Eric Peterson (Portillo's Director of Operations) and Mayor Chris Koos.
For Novak, this 2.5-acre site includes demolition of existing buildings, new site utilities, curbs, asphalt paving, and site improvements. The restaurant will be a precast structure with brick features, patio and architectural steel elements. This location in particular will feature 1920s Prohibition theme that will include a roof top water tower and a suspended antique vehicle.
Project Director and Novak Vice President-Restaurant Group, Dan Moriarity, noted that Novak Construction is very proud to be a part of Portillo's growth and popularity.
This location is scheduled to open in the Summer 2017.
