ESD Names Scharrer Head of Technology Group; Robbie Promoted to Studio Leader

CHICAGO, IL Environmental Systems Design, Inc. (ESD), an international leader in the design of high performance buildings, mission critical facilities, workplaces, and health, science and education environments, has appointed Chris Scharrer Practice Leader of the firm's Technology Group and has promoted Randy Robbie to Studio Leader.

ESD's Technology Group provides integrated technological services that elevate collaboration and encourage progress through high-performing and complex infrastructures, including voice technologies, digital interactivity, and audio visual systems.

A globally recognized leader in the design and installation of telecommunications and data/video technologies, Scharrer has close to 40 years of experience managing major technology efforts for the U.S. military, higher education, financial, medical, and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining ESD, he was director of network engineering at Rocket Fiber, a commercial and residential internet service provider in the city of Detroit, Michigan. Scharrer has been a contributing author, subject matter expert and committee chairperson on several trade publications which are focused on industry training, accreditation and standards in building technology, wireless systems, and outside plant construction industries. His professional affiliations include BICSI, InfoComm, and Infragard.

Robbie joined ESD in 2016, serving as a technology project manager, responsible for coordinating technology systems with building systems designers within the firm and outside architects.  He received a bachelor of science degree from Northern Illinois University and is a member of BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International), ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security), and ASHE (American Society of Healthcare Engineers).
