DENVER, CO — Megan Schulze, PMP, EIT, was recently awarded the Distinguished New Engineer Award by the Society of Women Engineers’ (SWE) Region i. The award recognizes women for outstanding technical performance as well as leadership in professional organizations and communities in the first 10 years of their professional careers.

Schulze, who has been with Dewberry for three years and has six years of experience, serves as a project manager in the energy solutions group. She is based in the Denver, Colorado, office and specializes in retro-commissioning, design-build turnkey services, and energy analysis for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and mechanical systems. Schulze was a team member on the MacDill Air Force Base project in Tampa, Florida, where the firm provided retro-commissioning services and identified cost-effective energy-saving improvements across 89 buildings.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University (2012), Schulze went on to earn a master’s in project management from Colorado State University-Global Campus (2016). In addition to her involvements with SWE, she serves as the director of social media for the Pikes Peak Regional Chapter of Project Management Institute and as the webmaster for the Society of American Military Engineers Pikes Peak Post. Schulze is an advocate for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in her community where she frequently volunteers to help STEM students learn more about the industry.

“Megan and the women recognized this year at WE Local have made significant contributions to the engineering community,” said Jonna Gerken, President of SWE. “They are leaders, inspiring the current and future generation of STEM professionals, and paving the way to empowerment for women engineers everywhere.”
