GARLAND, TX — Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national construction management firm and general contractor, was awarded the project contract for the City of Garland's Audubon Recreation Center renovation. This center will add to the list of successful renovation projects for AP's Texas office.

The project will include a 5,000-square-foot addition of a new fitness room and a complete renovation of the existing 10,000-square-foot building, including improvements to the multipurpose rooms, restrooms, lobby, exterior façade, front patio, and front canopy. These improvements and upgrades will better serve residents and guests of the center.

The Audubon Recreation Center is one of six recreation centers in the City of Garland.

“Recreation is such an important component of life for our communities, so we are excited to be utilizing our vast renovation experience for the City of Garland,” said Anthony Roman, Special Projects Division Manager with AP. “The renovated recreation center will provide the Garland community many more years of use and wonderful memories.”

As part of the project, AP recently kicked off renovations, with an estimated completion date of summer 2021.

In addition, Brown Reynolds Watford Architects (BRW) will serve as project architect and AECOM as program manager.

“Having been the architect for two prior small-scale renovations of Audubon Recreation Center, BRW is thrilled to be involved in bringing the city's vision for this facility to life,” said Stephen Hilt, AIA, Director, BRW Architects.

Notable completed municipal renovation projects by AP include The REC of Grapevine, Moody Family YMCA in Dallas and The Marq Southlake. AP also has several related projects underway, including the Arlington ISD Arlington Fine Arts Center and Aquatics Complex. Other Texas AP projects include the new PGA Headquarters in Frisco, Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, and several education facilities for the University of Texas, Northside ISD in San Antonio, Fort Worth ISD and Garland ISD.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction is a family-owned company that is ranked among the top construction managers and general contractors in the nation, while maintaining one of the safest records in the industry. AP offers preconstruction and construction services to the commercial, education, health care, hospitality, industrial, multifamily, municipal, recreation, and senior living market segments. The company has an employee base of over 700 who work from offices in Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, and Wyoming.
