SALT LAKE CITY, UT — With more than 20 years of innovative digital project management experience and recent management of the project controls cross sector, Joanna “Asia” Alvord has been promoted to serve as HDR's Transportation Project Controls Director.
In her new role, Alvord will provide strategic and technical leadership to further expand HDR's project controls practice and its application on transportation infrastructure projects. Most recently serving as Manager of the project controls cross sector, Alvord provided dashboard solutions for transportation clients in Utah, Alaska, California, New York, Texas, and elsewhere. She is currently serving as the Project Manager helping develop the new Utah Department of Transportation construction manual. Alvord has a postgraduate education in business administration, computer information systems, and psychology.
Alvord started her career with HDR over 21 years ago in Omaha, Nebraska, in the information services department. After four years, she relocated to Austin, Texas, to work on alternative delivery mega-projects. For the past 13 years, Alvord has been living in Utah and supporting projects around the country.
“Under Asia's management, the project controls practice has experienced tremendous growth, especially in support of our program management and alternative delivery projects,” said Program Delivery Services Director Jason McGlashan.
