McCarthy Promotes Al Gomez to Vice President, Operations of the Houston Division

Houston, Texas – McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Southern Region has promoted Al Gomez to vice president, operations of the Houston division. In this role, Gomez is responsible for integrating McCarthy’s various departments, while leading management and operations on all projects. Gomez’s responsibilities include coordination of preconstruction strategies, ensuring excellent client service and overseeing safety for the division. He possesses strong ties to the local market and brings a depth of experience in healthcare.
Gomez has worked with McCarthy for more than 14 years. Originally hired as a project engineer in McCarthy’s central division, Gomez focused mostly on major healthcare and research projects. He relocated to Houston in 2011 where he continued his focus and worked on major projects including Texas Children’s Hospital, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and CHRISTUS Spohn Health System.
“Al continues to be a great asset to our McCarthy team,” said McCarthy Houston Division President, Jim Stevenson. “He has been instrumental in some of the most challenging projects in our region, his experience and leadership skills make Al the perfect fit for the position.”
Gomez is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Houston and he is certified by the U.S. Green Building Council, American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Gomez earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering and another Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Milwaukee School of Engineering.
