PHOENIX, AZ — McCarthy Building Companies announces several promotions within the firm's Water Group, which allows the team to bring their experience in large and small water/wastewater treatment plants and related technical upgrades on aging infrastructure to key regional markets. The group's technical expertise and design-build experience allows them to serve community-based systems that provide hundreds of millions of Americans with clean water and environmentally safe wastewater management.

Since 2010, McCarthy's Water Group has completed or is in the process of constructing more than $1.4 billion in collaborative delivery water and wastewater projects in communities across the country. The Water Group partners with municipal, governmental, and private clients to help them process wastewater, address plant upgrades, and deliver cost-effective clean water to the communities they serve.

Chris Anvik is promoted to Senior Vice President of Preconstruction. Anvik previously served as Vice President of Preconstruction and has 13 years of experience in construction with an emphasis on water and wastewater projects. His focus on enhancing the collaborative experience between contractor, owner, and designer remains a large part of his new role. He maintains oversight of estimating, design integration, and procurement activities for McCarthy's water and wastewater projects.

Anvik received his bachelor's degree in construction engineering technology from Montana State University. He is an advisory board chair for the Water Design-Build Council and a member of the Arizona Water Association and Water Environment Federation (WEF).

BJ Peterson is promoted to Vice President Project Executive. He is currently overseeing the $268-million Tomahawk Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility project in Leawood, Kansas, and the $130-million Sioux Falls Water Reclamation Facility project in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He has a master's degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University. He is a member of the WEF Leadership Steering Committee and is a WEF Leadership Institute Alumni Class of 2018. He is also a graduate of Chandler Leadership's Class 33.

His previous operations experience working with collaborative project teams has allowed him to thrive in his role, where he works alongside trade partners and municipalities to support the Water Group's strategic growth. Murphy has built client partnerships across Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, and Kansas. As Business Development Director, he will continue to support national growth of McCarthy's water program.
