BEDFORD, NH — GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. (GZA), a multi-disciplinary firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, has been retained by the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) to provide geotechnical evaluation professional consulting services for transportation projects statewide through 2023, with the potential for up to two one-year extensions.

Working in collaboration with VTrans' in-house geotechnical staff, GZA will support the agency in its mission of planning, developing, implementing, and managing Vermont's statewide transportation network that includes roads, bridges, railroads, airports, park-and-rides, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and public transportation facilities and services. The contract covers up to $8 million in services.

“For 20 years, GZA has been a trusted advisor to VTrans on a wide range of geotechnical engineering evaluations to ensure Vermont continues to have a robust, reliable, and safe transportation network," said Patrick Sheehan, GZA CEO and President. "We're honored to be chosen to continue this collaborative partnership with VTrans for another term.”

Services GZA will provide on an on-call basis to VTrans include subsurface explorations, geological site characterization, boring log preparation, and geotechnical recommendations for a variety of bridge, roadway, and related transportation facilities. VTrans oversees more than 2,700 miles of highways and 4,000 bridges in Vermont as well as 10 state-owned airports and extensive rail, public transit, and other transportation assets.
