DENVER, CO — PCL Construction and South Adams County Water and Sanitation District (SACWSD) welcomed elected officials and community leaders to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Klein Facility Enhancement Project for PFAS, marking the successful completion of a major water infrastructure project delivered in partnership with Brown and Caldwell.
Klein is Colorado’s largest ion exchange per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) treatment facility. PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” are an environmental and health risk because they do not break down naturally and can remain in water and soil for decades. The project not only removes PFAS from the water system but also enhances water treatment capacity and strengthens long-term reliability for nearly 70,000 county residents.
“The Klein Facility Enhancement Project represents a meaningful investment in this community’s future,” said Jamie Safulko, PCL Construction, Civil Denver Area Manager. “Through early collaboration, the team delivered a complex treatment facility designed to meet evolving PFAS regulatory requirements while improving access to reliable, clean, locally treated water.”
South Adams County collaborated early with CMAR partners to align scope, reduce risk, and enhance coordination across the team. This approach supported efficient delivery, with construction tracking ahead of schedule and under budget.

The project was completed with funding supported through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Colorado Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
